Any candidate for the North Carolina governorship who can not take a stand on an issue – is NO candidate at all.
Etheridge skirted two difficult issues on his first day as a gubernatorial candidate. He declined to take a position on the constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages and civil unions that will appear on the ballot in May, saying it is an issue that he will have to deal with later.
“The nice thing is it is before the people and they will make the decision,” Etheridge said. “I always believe the people in the state make the right decision.”
Etheridge – just another politician. Bad for North Carolina.
Wasn’t this a bit premature? He didn’t know that he would be even have the opportunity until 10 or 11 days before this post, and unlike Faison and Dalton, was not in a an elected position that would deal with the amendment. It’s not a simple legal issue, and I would want any candidate to fully research an issue before taking a position. Plus, he has come out firmly against since then.
pardon the typo.
